We all know that we feel our best when we’ve had a chance to relax and take some time off. But sometimes, especially during busy periods like the holiday season, it’s just not possible to have a few days off from work or from seeing friends and family. That means you have to make the most of the small moments you have to take some time to chill out. Here are some ways you can take your mind off things in a small amount of time.
1. Play a Game Online
I personally really enjoy Solitaire, and Solitaire.org offer that game for free, online. Plus, if you’re not sure how to play, there’s helpful instructions right below the game. But they don’t just have Solitaire, they also have fun variations like Golf Solitaire which is new to me and fun to play! Not only will an online game help to take your mind off everything for a short period of time, it’s also fun to play!
Clear your mind and take a few moments to meditate. By simply focusing on your breathing and closing your eyes, you’ll feel much more relaxed with very little effort. Plus, you can do it anywhere – on public transport, before bed or first thing in the morning!
When life gets busy, you can forget to move your body, meaning you hold more tension in muscles like your back and shoulders. Stretch out, touch your toes and even do a full sun salutation if you’re feeling up to it! This is a great way to take a few moments for yourself and relax while at work.
4. Make Yourself A Hot Drink
If you’re one of those people who is always doing something for other people, you sometimes forget to meet your own needs. By doing something really nice for yourself like making a hot drink and sitting down for a few minutes, you’ll feel like you’re able to take a breath and make sense of all the things you have to do.
5. Get Your Nails Done
This will take a little longer, but what better way to treat yourself in a small amount of time than getting your nails done. You can even stop off at a salon on the way home from work!
6. Go To Bed Earlier
It seems obvious, but just by going to bed 30 minutes earlier, you’ll have more time to relax and sleep. This will have a positive knock-on effect and you’ll feel better the next day.
7. Read A Chapter Of A Book
Or an audio-book, if that’s what you’re into! Reading will help you switch off from the world and help you delve into another world, enabling you to chill out a bit more. You can even buy a book of short stories if you’re worried about not having time to read the whole book!
8. Carve Out Time For Yourself
It’s not always easy to find time for yourself, so it might be best if you schedule it in! That way, you’re sure to always have time to relax, but you have to make sure you stick to it!
When life gets busy, it’s important to relax and take a break. Not only will it make you happier through the day, but it will also make for a healthier lifestyle long-term.
